It’s been a little while since Psalm 88 was released. So, it’s time to let you know that another song is close to completion.
The Dark Side of Love is a song inspired by Dr. J. Vernon McGee’s message of the same title. Aside from McGee’s voice reminding me of days gone by, the core of what he says is generally spot on, and this message is no exception.
The liberal preacher has chanted like a parrot. He has used shopworn cliches and tired adjectives. He has said, “God is love, God is love, God is love” until he has made it saccharin sweet; yet he has not told about the dark side of the love of God. He has watered down love, making it sickening rather than stimulating, causing it to slop over on every side like a sentimental feeling rather than an abiding concern for the object of love.
Lyrics for the Dark Side of Love take key phrases and points from Zephaniah 3. Living in a country that has traditionally been pro-Israel, we tend to forget that it can be a place of wickedness and filth.
So with that I leave you with the chorus of the song.
The whole world will be consumed
By the fire of my jealous anger
It’s a dangerous perfume
Poured out from the dark side of love
