From time to time an artist breaks through the machinery and makes something unique, artistic, and genuine. Thinking back, artists that broke the mold eventually took the industry in their direction. Granted, the industry tends to commercialize it, make it more mainstream. Nirvana (75 million sold worldwide) is a good example. But so far, Industrial music hasn’t encountered nirvana. Some bands like NIN (20 million sold worldwide) have hit the world wide scene with success. But they haven’t spawned countless mimics.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on why industrial music hasn’t peaked yet. I think it will at some point.
